ABOUT
US
The Ridgewood Soccer Association (the
RSA) was
formed in 1978 as a non-profit organization with its sole purpose being the provision of a
recreational soccer program for children resident in the Village of Ridgewood, New Jersey,
USA.
The principle focus of the RSAs activities is
the autumn recreational soccer program that runs for approximately 11 weeks from the
weekend after Labor Day through the weekend before Thanksgiving. Since its inception, over
6000 children have participated in the RSA program and annual registrations have increased
to nearly 1500.

Did you know that on an average
autumn weekend, the RSA:
- ...holds instructional clinics and
instructional, fun games for approximately 500 1st and 2nd graders in 10
sessions.
- ...runs 20+ games and instructional sessions at BF Middle
School Field for 425 3rd and 4th grade players on 40+ teams.
- ...runs 10 games and instructional sessions for 250 5th and 6th grade players on 20 teams
- ...trains nearly 100 community teens as
soccer referees to supervise the in-town youth games with compensation
- ...has approximately 150 boys and 150
girls in grades 5 through 8 playing in approximately 15 full-sided games on
traveling recreation teams. Half of them play at home fields.
- ...runs a traveling recreation program
for nearly 100 high school age boys and girls who do not play on high
school athletic teams
- ... assures an adequate pool of licensed referees
are available and properly scheduled to referee the home games
for traveling teams.
- ...runs the only Special Needs recreation
soccer program in northern New Jersey with 10-15 players participating
annually
- ...involves approximately 250 to 300 parent
volunteers as coaches.
- ...is thankful to the RHS soccer teams for
their involvement in our Division 5 and Special Needs programs
- ...is run by volunteers
Did you know that the RSA:
- ...has invested approximately $70,000 since
1996 towards improvement of Board of Ed and Village fields and when called upon has contributed generously to special
projects ($17,000 for Somerville School in 1995 and $15,000 for Glen School
in 1994)
- ...assures that its assets (goals, lighting
stations, etc) are available to other youth sports
programs and to the RHS soccer programs when requested.
- ....donates and maintains a collection of
instructional soccer books and videos at the Ridgewood Public Library.
- ...makes $4000 in scholarships available to
village youth annually.
- ...actively supports the agenda of the
Ridgewood Sports Council to advance all recreation programs in the village
