Safety and Liability

The RSA maintains an insurance policy to protect you and the organization in the event of accidents.  Please don't permit unregistered children (even siblings of the players) to participate in games or in practices - they're not covered!

Be sure you receive a First Aid Kit from your Division coordinator and request refills whenever you need them.

We suggest that you attend a worthwhile 3 hour course developed by Rutgers University Youth Sports Research Council entitled Sports Awareness For Educating Today's Youth (S.A.F.E.T.Y.).  Completion of this course is mandatory for all coaches of our teams participating in the NWBSA traveling program.  This certificate program teaches basic elements of safe coaching and player first aid.  Perhaps more importantly, it offers you, the coach, some degree of liability protection in the event of player injury.   The program is offered at 2 area hospitals and the RSA will reimburse you for the cost of the course (usually approximately $35).
