VOLUNTEER TO COACH
The RSA depends on volunteers to help coach the
over 1400 children in our program. While the time involved is strictly up to you, a
reasonable plan would include approximately 2 to 4 hours per week (includes our scheduled
games) with your own child and his or her teammates. Both men and women are
encouraged to join the fun!
Please visit the
REGISTRATION section of this website to volunteer to coach.
If you're concerned that you don't know the game
well enough to coach, then see our Support for Coaches
page for more information and:
- Understand that the things we value most from you
are your contributions of active encouragement, focus on fun and growth, and assurance
that playing time is balanced as equally as possible between the players.
- Rest assured that all programs include professional
clinicians and/or the Ridgewood High School coaches and teams to lead the instructional
sessions. These sessions are designed to build individual player skills, to teach
team strategies, and to help train the coaches about the game.
- Know that the RSA maintains books and videotapes in
the Ridgewood Public Library to assist coaches at each level of play.
- For coaches in our program for
youngest players, we start your season
with a "How to Coach and Motivate Children" clinic from U.K. Elite, our partner for many elements of the RSA
instructional program.
