1st AND 2nd GRADE (DIVISION 6) PROGRAM

This is a multi-level program for our youngest players and is held on Saturdays at a centralized location.  Its primary objective is to teach players basic soccer skills in a fun, non-competitive way and we strive to ensure that children will have a positive experience regardless of their ability.  The program is designed and delivered by a soccer training organization and their professional soccer educators.  1st graders will have a separate program from 2nd graders; the latter program is gender specific.   Approximately 550 children participate each year.

In addition, this program is also designed to enlist parents who are new to soccer to become coaches for the first time.  Parents who volunteer to coach do not need any prior experience or knowledge of soccer.  The coaching role is to supervise and encourage a small group of children while they play games taught to them by the soccer educator.

We strongly encourage parents to volunteer to coach.  The commitment is not significant as the sessions are only once each week for 1hr and 20min and we assign several coaches to each team so that conflicts and other activities are not a problem.   In recent years there has been a significant increase in the number of mothers who coach and we encourage all mothers as well as fathers to actively participate in our programs and share time with the children.   Moms and Dads:  Please volunteer to coach!

All players in the 1st and 2nd grade program will receive a T-shirt. First year players will also receive a soccer ball. Soccer shoes (molded plastic or rubber cleats only – no football/baseball style cleats) are helpful but not required.  Shin guards are mandatory.

Parents are notified around Sept. 1 of their child's time and field assignment. Please check our website for updates.
